Abstract
The demand for esthetic orthodontic treatment is increasing among patients with disabilities. Even if compromised treatment is performed because of the patient"s limited cooperation, esthetic orthodontic treatment can still improve self-satisfaction and self-confidence in patients with disabilities. These two case reports are on light-force orthodontic treatment using the mini-tube appliance (MTA) and thin thermoactive (TA) nickel-titanium (NiTi) wire in patients with disabilities with psychological behavior guidance technique. A 12-year-old patient with autism and a 15-year-old patient with cerebral palsy visited the dental hospital, complaining of crowding of the maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth. The MTA and thin TA NiTi wire were selected for anterior esthetic alignment. Treatment using MTA and thin TA NiTi wire is advantageous for oral hygiene management and is less discomfort for patients. Moreover, minimal patient cooperation is required. Patients and caregivers were satisfied with the appliance and esthetic alignment of the anterior teeth achieved within a short time.
